You should know that Christmas menu can be slightly different in others areas of the UK. One of the most popular foods at Christmas is turkey. People usually buy a frozen one, then de-freeze it, roast and serve with sauces as they wish. Inside turkey can be also the stuffing, however stuffing can has different versions in different areas. For example, in north part of America known version is chestnut stuffing – puree with chestnut with onions, butter, breadcrumbs and herbage. Britishers choose stuffing with herbage, mainly with thyme. Turkey great compose with roast potatoes. Unusual part of Christmas dinner is chipolatas – little sausages in bacon which often accompany the turkey. If there are vegetarians in home, the replacement for turkey is a nut roast contained of roasted chestnuts, winter vegetables and mushrooms.
Dried fruit and brandy butter are form of Christmas dessert. Other proposition is mince pies – little crumpets filled cranberries, nuts spices and another elements. Baked and dusted with icing sugar they are great with a cup of coffee or a bit of alkohol for the end of Christmas dinner. Traditional cake on the table at Christmas is prepared months before holiday. It is composed of fruits and nuts and every few days is „fed” with whisky. Before holiday Eve supper it is enrobed in layer of marzipan. With red band that sweet looks gorgeous.
Important vegetable served on Christmas dinner is brussel sprouts, often steam. Although many Britishers dislike it, brussel sprouts very often are on the table at Christmas. Another popular vegetable this time dinner is boiled peas or red cabbage.
