Britishers at Christmas Eve consume Christmas dinner, but tradicional meal is different in comparison to other lands. In the United Kindom a lots of people walk to the church where is religious service at midnight in the Christmas Eve.

Time of looking forward to Santa

In UK childrens also wait for Santa. At the evening of Christmas Eve kids prepare stockings or pillow-cases by the fireplace or kids’ beds. They believe that Father Christmas leave gifts in those things, not near to Holidays tree like think children from many countries. Sometimes children in UK are very grateful – they leave mince crumpets and brandy for Father Christmas to eat and to drink for the time he visits their home. Currently it’s often non-alcoholic drink because of Santa has to drive his sled.

Every year, December 25th people listen to Queen’s Christmas Message. The idea of a Christmas speech has its beginning long time before current Queen came to the throne. The Queen’s Christmas Message was a key element in the development of the BBC on beginning of operation. The first Christmas Message was in 1932 and their author was King George V. Queen in her speeches tells about important things of United Kingdom and another countries and presents her reflexions. It is good summary of events of the year and programs for the future. The Speech of the Queen is key element of every Christmas.

Every countries have their Holidays traditions. The United Kingdom isn’t different in that respect, although many Christmas customs are the same.
